Welcome!
This website aims to give a short intro to my life. If you would like any more information, feel free to connect with me on any of the media below or download my CV.

Let's dive in
Hey!

I'm Mohamad El Habbal

Hello there! I'm 19, originally from Lebanon, and spent the majority of my life in Dubai. I moved to London in 2021 and have been here ever since. I'm fluent in both English and Arabic.

Currently, I'm pursuing a degree in Computer Science at University College London (UCL).

I'm particularly interested in Quantitative Finance, having developed a leveraged ETF trading strategy that achieved a 63% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over a 20 backtest.

Outside of the tech world, I've developed a keen interest in watchmaking, allowing me to blend creativity with attention to detail. What's particularly fascinating about this hobby is that it mirrors the importance of precision and quality that I value in my professional work.

Football is another passion of mine. I played for FC Barcelona football academy for ten years. This honed my collaborative abilities and taught me the value of teamwork and discipline, alongside being an enjoyable pursuit.

To sum it up, I'm an 19-year-old navigating the worlds of computer science, quantitative finance, and watchmaking in London. Looking forward to seeing where these interests take me!

Leveraged ETF Trading Strategy πŸ“ˆ

Jul 2024 - Present

Technologies used
Python, yfinance, Technical indicators, numpy, pandas, matplotlib, csv

Description
I developed a robust, systematic asset-switching strategy designed to maximize returns by holding Leveraged ETFs over the long term while minimizing the impact of volatility decay. By leveraging periods of high volatility, the algorithm captures alpha and has demonstrated impressive performance in backtesting.

Over a 20-year simulation, the strategy achieved a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 63% and an annual Sharpe ratio of 1.11.

I have also written articles discussing volatility decay in Leveraged ETFs and volatility index ETFs.

Description
As part of a collaborative team, I helped develop MediScribe, an innovative tool that automates the transcription of patient-doctor conversations into Electronic Health Records (EHRs), fully compliant with FHIR standards. The tool addresses a critical bottleneck in the NHS, where over 75 million hours are spent annually on manual data entry, aligning with the NHS Long Term Plan for β€œdigitally enabled care.”

By implementing advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques, MediScribe accurately identifies and categorizes key medical information such as symptoms, medications, and diagnoses, while effectively distinguishing between patient and doctor dialogue.
